Speed dating meets smart phone technology for a race across Canberra’s CBD hotspots
Speed dating might seem passé but one online dating network has found a fresh spin on a classic night out.
For a company only three years old, CitySwoon has entered the dating scene in a big way. In 2014 CitySwoon took aim at the Guinness World Record for the biggest blind date at the Opera House in Sydney. Over 700 singles took part. Since then, the company has extended its reach across the rest of the country, describing itself as one of the most successful speed dating networks in the southern hemisphere. The company has a variety of events planned in Canberra, including their Adventure Date night.
Adventure Date sees singles experience around 8 dates, matched to an online profile and lasting about 15 minutes each. The venue is a mystery - billed as “the best bars, pubs and hidden gems of Canberra”.
Smartphones are required as participants will receive a text in the afternoon with the location of the first date. Then throughout the night different tasks, dates and missions will be messaged. Says CitySwoon, you might need to “find Jack, he is within a few metres of you, and enter the code that he gives you here...”. Jack will have a message to find you at the same time.
CitySwoon’s Adventure Date returns to the capital on Thursday 26 October 2017. Tickets are available from $49, which includes bubbles, wine and beer, via www.cityswoon.com
