Summernats 2018 set to draw thousands of car fans to the capital
The festival of the burnout returns to Exhibition Park on 4 January 2018, and while it may still be four months away, tickets to the 31st Street Machine Summernats event are selling fast.
Last year more than 100,000 spectators descended on the capital to see over 2,500 modified and unique street machines slog it out in competition. In what will be sure to make the local tyre dealers rub their hands with glee, there will be not one, but three burnout events judged on smoke produced and driver skill. In addition, entrants will duke it out across a number of driving courses, and even pit their cars against each other to see who can generate the most horsepower. Of course, the ever-popular Miss Summernats beauty pageant will return, with $15,000 in prize money up for grabs. A kids’ club will run during the day on Friday and Saturday ensuring the whole family is catered for.
But enthusiasts had better be quick. Platinum Passes offering four-day entry and grandstand seating for the evening events have already sold out. General admission tickets can be purchased online at summernats.com.au
