Food and festivities from across the globe on show at the National Multicultural Festival
For the 22nd time, the National Multicultural Festival will bring one of Australia’s biggest and most diverse celebrations to the heart of Canberra in 2018, with three days of food, fun, music, dance, cultural performances and festivities for all to enjoy.
The Festival is a fun, free, family-friendly event that includes food stalls, activities, shows, dancing, and celebrations, from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 February 2018.
A number of showcases are expected to be a part of the 2018 Festival, including Greek Glendi, India in the City, Pacific Islanders, African, indigenise, belly dancers and Chinese.
More than 280,000 people flocked to the festival in 2017. Canberrans and visitors from interstate and overseas were delighted with the quality of the entertainment and the variety of food from across the globe.
This year organisers are offering new Sanctuary spaces for children, parents and festival goers looking for a quiet space out of the heat and away from the hustle and bustle.
Adult visitors to the Sanctuary on Saturday and Sunday will be able to sit in peaceful, shaded areas, grab a cool drink and take in a quieter festival atmosphere with a wide variety of special music and entertainment programs to enjoy in Petrie Plaza.
A Children’s Sanctuary space has been provided at Canberra Museum and Gallery (CMAG) for children to play, create and take part in a range of cultural activities. Across the two days there will be art making, music and dance workshops, as well as face painting, balloon modelling and storytelling sessions.
The 2018 National Multicultural Festival will again have an App for iOS (iphone) and Android users, with information from performers, stall, locations of interest and more.
