Fireworks Australia host region’s largest fireworks display
Fireworks are among the first things out-of-towners think of when they hear of Canberra. And although you can no longer purchase crackers here without a licence, they are still drawing people to the area.
The largest fireworks show ever to be staged in the region is returning to Gunning this spring.
The Gunning Fireworks Festival is a combined community event and pyrotechnics trade show and has become one of the most popular family events in the area.
The festival is produced by Fireworks Australia, which has a factory in the region. In addition to manufacturing, the company supplies specialised products to other fireworks companies, film and television, touring productions and major events Australia wide.
Over one hour of fireworks demonstrations will be presented by Fireworks Australia’s trained pyrotechnicians. The night will end with a massive pyrotechnic musical sky show showcasing the latest in high tech effects.
The festival offers appeal to all ages. Highlights this year include amusement rides, market stalls, food stalls, face painting, air brush tattoos, live music and more.
Organisers suggest that visitors wrap up warm and bring a blanket, despite being spring, as September can be cold.
The Festival is on 9 September 2017 at Gunning Showground, around 55 minutes from the CBD. Gates open at 3pm, with the Pyromusical Spectacular scheduled for 8.10pm. Entry costs $10 per adult, $5 per child or $25 for a family.
