ACT Registered Vehicles data released
Toyota cars are the most popular vehicles in the ACT, registration data provided by the ACT government shows.
The dataset contains all registered vehicles in the ACT, filtered by make/manufacturer, model and registration suburb as at 28 July 2017.
Toyotas make up almost one in five cars on the road, eclipsing the next most populous manufacturer, Holden, by around one and a half times. Mazda came in third, accounting for just under 10 per cent of the cars on the road, edging out Ford for a podium finish.
The humble Corolla was the most prevalent Toyota model seen on the road, followed by the Camry and then the ubiquitous tradie’s ute, the Hilux.
The data also showed Canberrans to be an eco-conscious lot, with over 1,000 of the electric hybrid Toyota Priuses registered, in addition to 41 Teslas.
At the exotic end of the spectrum, Porsche is by far the most ubiquitous supercar on the road, with 613 registered in the territory. The German marque far outnumbers Ferrari, of which there are 49, and Lamborghini, of which there are only 5.
You will have to keep a keen eye out to spot one of Canberra’s rarest makes, with just one Goggomobile on the road. Oh, and for those wondering, it is the Dart.
